RT12M GE RT1 Thermal Overload Relay, 5.5-8.5A, Class 20
Use GE RT12M when the starter calls for the RT1 direct-mount overload in the 5.5-8.5 A band. This Class 20 relay has three poles, screw terminals, and a manual/auto reset arrangement that can be used with or without the stop feature.
Before setting the dial, verify the motor nameplate and the contactor frame. GE lists RT12M for CL00, CL01, CL02, CL25, CL04, and CL45 units, and the catalog cautions installers not to exceed the contactor current rating.
Common Applications
- Starter maintenance where the specified overload catalog number is RT12M

FAQ
What amp setting does RT12M cover?
The adjustment window runs from 5.5 A through 8.5 A, so confirm the motor full-load current before setup.
Is this the Class 10 version?
No. RT12M is the Class 20 catalog number; RT1M is the nearby Class 10 manual/auto model and is not interchangeable by part number.
What hardware is required for panel mounting?
GE directs panel installations to use an RTXP base adapter instead of treating the direct-mount relay as a standalone panel device.
Does RT12M have auxiliary contacts?
Yes. Exact distributor records agree on one normally open contact and one normally closed contact.
